Microsurgery is an intricate and painstaking procedure reserved for difficult reconstructive cases, requiring a high order of skill. Reassuringly, the surgeons at Adelaide Plastic Surgery are all experienced microsurgeons.
We use microsurgery to transfer flaps of tissue from one area of the body (the donor site) to an area of need.
These flaps, along with their attendant blood vessels and nerves, are subsequently joined to the recipient site using an operating microscope, miniaturised instruments and sutures.
If microsurgery is applicable in your case, your surgeon will explain it fully and discuss it with you during your consultation.
