Adelaide Plastic Surgery is pleased to provide a 24-hour, seven-day emergency referral service for injuries specifically requiring specialist plastic surgical treatment.

Our specialist plastic surgeons are able to provide comprehensive care for a range of injuries including:

  • Tendon and nerve repairs
  • Hand fractures
  • Facial trauma
  • Sporting injuries
  • Domestic injuries such as lacerations and minor burns

Our plastic surgeons are available to discuss difficult cases and give advice where necessary.

Referring a patient

We are able to accept emergency referrals from any medical facility, including emergency departments, Work Health Clinics, GP rooms or direct from SA Ambulance Service.

In order to provide the best possible service, when referring a patient we ask that:

  • Injuries are sufficiently stabilised, cleaned, and suitably dressed
  • Patients are advised to fast if necessary
  • A letter of referral is faxed to our North Terrace rooms on (08) 8213 1811
  • Relevant radiology scans and reports are with the patient
  • We have been notified and an appointment has been confirmed

Fees

Please be aware we are a private practice and fees will apply. Our emergency referral service is suitable for patients with private health cover, Return To Work injuries, Third Party Insurance or who are fully self-funded (uninsured). We are committed to informed financial consent and patients will receive a pre-treatment written quote for all medical expenses. If an injury requires further management with one of our Hand Therapists, please note additional fees will apply.

Burns

We are able to accomodate patients with burns that cover less that 10% of the body. Significant burns should be referred as a matter of urgency to the Royal Adelaide Hospital or Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Skin Cancer Clinic

Skin cancer removal is the most frequently performed procedure at Adelaide Plastic Surgery. Our commitment to patient safety has led to the development of a dedicated skin cancer clinic for patients requiring immediate specialist opinion and management of suspicious lesions.

Consult Locations

Over the years our surgeons have established a close relationship with many major public and private hospitals, along with various day surgery facilities and medical practices. As a result, we are pleased to offer a variety of consult locations, offering our patients the convenience of seeing their specialist locally. Several of our surgeons are also regular visiting specialists at hospitals across country South Australia and Broken Hill, confirming our commitment to regional health services. As a further service to remote patients, we are able to offer Telehealth consultations and post surgery reviews.

To refer a patient to any of our regional locations or to arrange a Telehealth consultation, please direct all enquires to our North Terrace rooms, where our administrative staff will be pleased to assist further.

For all referrals to Broken Hill Base Hospital please contact the hospital directly on (02) 8080 1333. Their team will be pleased to assist in arranging an appointment with our visiting specialists.
