Excess sweating is a serious condition and it does have a serious name: axillary hyperhidrosis. In fact, we understand just how debilitating it can be for many people: it can affect your self-confidence due to the accompanying odour, damage your clothes and inhibit your ability to wear particular fabrics, colours or outfits. What is the procedure?

This treatment consists of tiny, sub-dermal injections of a purified protein into your armpits. This medication will either reduce the sweat under your armpits to normal levels or stop them sweating altogether. It does so by blocking the neurotransmitters that stimulate the production of perspiration. You can be reassured that the sweat does not ‘back up’ and you will, of course, still sweat in untreated areas.

 

How many treatments will I need?

This is a semi permanent option for reduced underarm sweating. The effects of individual treatments will generally last between six to nine months.

miraDry Treatment

What is miraDry?

miraDry is a non-surgical procedure that safely provides a permanent lasting reduction of underarm sweat. The treatment works by delivering precisely controlled electromagnetic energy to the underarm area. This eliminates the effected sweat glands permanently, resulting in a dramatic reduction of underarm sweat.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients require only one treatment. Heavy sweating, or people suffering from hyperhidrosis, may require 2 or more treatments to ensure maximal and permanent sweat reduction. Each appointment lasts around an hour, and is spaced 3 months apart.

When should I notice a difference in underarm sweating?

Most patients will notice a marked reduction in underarm sweating within 1–2 days of the miraDry procedure.
