Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid Lift

Just as gravity inevitably seems to have its way with our breasts and any excess weight we carry around our middles, it’s the effect it has on our eyelids that will often make us look tired, sleepy and prematurely old. Perhaps that’s why the eyelid lift is one of the most common procedures in plastic surgery, performed either exclusively or in conjunction with other facial surgery. Technically known as blepharoplasty, it removes excess skin and fat from around the eyes on the upper and/or lower eyelids.

Eyelid Lift

What can an eyelid lift achieve?

Eyelid reduction surgery can correct both the aesthetic and visual problems you’ll experience with excess skin and or fatty tissue in the upper and or lower eyelids. Like opening a curtain or taking off some blinkers, you might be surprised by how much your field of view had deteriorated. By removing the bags and wrinkles from around your eyes, blepharoplasty can reduce the effects of ageing and give you a rested, youthful appearance.

Will I need an overnight stay?

Blepharoplasty is often performed under local anaesthetic as a day procedure.

What are the side effects?

Bruising and swelling around the eyes is common and can last for up to three weeks. But your surgeon will fully explain any possible complications during your consultation before we proceed and we’re always here to support you through recovery.

When can I get back to normal activities?

Most of our patients return to work after seven to ten days, depending upon what type of work they’re involved with. You can usually start using cosmetics again after this time.
