Muscle Relaxing Treatments

Muscle relaxants have become one of the most frequently performed non-invasive procedures worldwide. This treatment is an ideal option for those looking to refresh and soften their face by minimising the appearance of expression lines – also known as dynamic wrinkles.

Rest assured, whatever your reason for pursuing muscle relaxing treatments, our experienced nurse injectors will work towards achieving healthy results that are right for you.

Further Information

Treatment Details

Muscle relaxants are comprised of a purified protein extract that relaxes the muscles involved in the formation of dynamic wrinkles, the wrinkles caused by repetitive movement when we smile, frown and laugh.

When injected into the muscle, this substance blocks the signal that initiates nerve activity in the muscles, causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity. As your muscles relax, and movement decreases, the skin around them becomes smoother.

In this treatment we inject only a minor amount into specific areas, ensuring the effects of your treatment are very localised. Our experienced injectors are able to create a smoother softer appearance, while still preserving natural movement and facial expression – that is, you will not be left looking ‘frozen’.

Treatments generally last between 3-6 months, depending on the individual.

Our Products

At Adelaide Plastic Surgery we are pleased to offer our patients two varieties of muscle relaxant products. Due to regulatory restrictions we are not able to name these products on our website, however should you call and enquire, we will be happy to discuss these products over the phone.

Your Consultation

At Adelaide Plastic Surgery we are pleased to offer a complimentary, no obligation consultation with our nurse injectors. During this consultation you will experience a full facial analysis, allowing your treatment to be tailored to your individual aesthetic needs. Our injectors take a special interest in the latest techniques that will restore and refresh your face, whilst still preserving your natural features.

As muscle relaxants are a prescription medication, you will also meet face to face with one of our specialist plastic surgeons. That’s one of the key benefits of coming to Adelaide Plastic Surgery – not only are our surgeons available to write your prescription and review your treatment plan, there is the added comfort of knowing a surgeon is always on-site and accessible for their opinion and management if ever the occasion arises.

We recommend that you allow 30 minutes for this consultation. Please keep this in mind when organising parking so that you don’t feel the need to rush. There is the possibility for your treatment to be done on the same day if time permits.

Pricing

We understand every face is unique, and so are the doses required to treat individual faces. No one person is the same as the next, and we believe having set prices per area could mean your treatment will be too little or too much, and not give you the outcome you expected. This is why we offer complimentary, no-obligation consultations with an experienced nurse injector, to identify and discuss the costs of your individual treatment needs.

Medical applications for muscle relaxation

Apart from cosmetic results, the muscle-relaxing effect of the protein we use in these treatments is also beneficial for a number of other medical conditions. These Include;

  • Patients with uncontrolled muscle spasms and twitches of the face due to certain neurological disorders.
  • Correction of facial symmetry
  • Easing the pain for migraine sufferers
  • Reducing excessive sweating of the armpits
  • Treating the jaw muscles that cause us to grind our teeth
